Scalable Services for Resource Management in Distributed and Networked Environments

چکیده
Sharing hardware and software resources among networked workstations has become common practice. Resource management in such systems is complex because of physical distribution of the resources, communication delays and the lack of global state information. This paper describes a scalable load monitoring service and a scalable resource query service developed in the Warp project to provide necessary state information for resource management. Scalability is achieved by reducing network traac. Techniques include exploiting IP multicast for one-to-many communications, using supply-driven and demand-driven approaches for disseminating diierent classes of information, compressing information, and tailoring servers only to publish information when certain conditions are met. GUI tools, statistical analysers, and job scheduling are example clients of the services. Abstract Sharing hardware and software resources among networked workstations has become common practice. Multi-objective and Scalable Heuristic Algorithm for Workflow Task Scheduling in Utility Grids
To use services transparently in a distributed environment, the Utility Grids develop a cyber-infrastructure. The parameters of the Quality of Service such as the allocation-cost and makespan have to be dealt with in order to schedule workflow application tasks in the Utility Grids. Optimization of both target parameters above is a challenge in a distributed environment and may conflict one an...
متن کاملScalable Reputation Management for P2P MMOGs
Networked virtual environments (VEs) such as Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) have become very popular in recent years. However, existing client-server architectures suffer from resource constrains when the number of concurrent users increases. Research on peer-to-peer virtual environments (P2P-VEs) thus tries to create more scalable and affordable VEs via the resource sharing of mutu...

متن کاملDynBench: A Benchmark Suite for Dynamic Real-Time Systems
In this paper we present the architecture and framework for a benchmark suite that has been developed as part of the DeSiDeRaTa project. The benchmark suite is representative of the emerging generation of distributed, mission-critical, real-time control systems that operate in dynamic environments. Systems that operate in such environments may have unknown worstcase scenarios, may have large va...
